DAY 5-6-7
East fjords - North Iceland
Passing over from the East to the North we will cross various mountain ranges and highland passages with phenomenal viewpoints.

Möðrudalur á fjöllum farm will be visited along with the mighty waterfall Dettifoss. Selfoss will also be visited if weather conditions are good.

We will spend the next 3 nights in hotel/huts by lake Mývatn. The area around Mývatn has nature and colourful birdlife like no other, a volcano wonderland with craters in every direction, expectional lava formation from past eruptions and colourful geothermal hotspots for viewing and even bathing.

Mývatn is a part of the mid Atlantic ridge, an highly active volcanic area with the caldera Krafla last erupting in 1984. We will visit Krafla and Víti or hell, as other natural wonders like Námaskarð, Dimmuborgir, Skútústaðir and the waterfall Aldeyjarfoss if weather permits.

Jarðböðin or the natural baths are a must after a good day of adventures.

If the northern lights decide to become visible, Mývatn is without a doubt one of the best places on the island to witness them.
