This  private guided 10 days highlight of Iceland tour around the island is the most complete tour of them all. Visiting all the primary parts of the compass, the traveller will see and experience everything Icelandic nature and wildlife has to offer; Volcanoes, fissures and craters, glaciers and glacier lagoons, wildlife, northern lights, highlands, monumental mountains, geothermal hot springs and baths, black sand deserts and beaches, rivers and canyons, waterfalls, endless lava fields and much more.

DAY 1
Þingvellir National Park - South coast.
After an early pickup in Reykjavik capital we are headed towards the National Park Þingvellir which geographically is placed in a Rift Valley and historically the location of one of the oldest Parliament ever established in 930 a.d.
 
From there we drive down to the south coast.
 
After lunch we visit the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss both fed by the glacier and volcano Eyjafjallajökull that so famously erupted back in 2010.
 
We drive along route number one visiting Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara with beautiful views of the coastline and the unbound North Atlantic Ocean.
 
In the end of the day we reach our hotel in the farmlands of the area of Vík village and enjoy a high quality homemade dinner.
 
After dinner a northern lights lookout on location.
DAY 2-3
Vatnajökull National Park
After an early breakfast we drive to Vatnajökull National Park. Vatnajökull glacier is the biggest glacier in Europe with countless natural wonders to see.
 
We will travel the glaciers inside out, going on a glacier hike and an ice cave expedition. We will also visit sites around the glaciers, glacier lagoons, the beautiful black sand diamond beach and other secret locations in the area.  
 
We will stay in a local high quality farm hotel only minutes away from Jökulárslón with amazing ocean and glacier view.
 
After dinner a northern lights lookout on location.
 
After two days in the national park we will truly understand why our island is called Iceland.
 
Note: that Ice caves are only accessible from November through March. Zodiac boat tours on Jökulsárlón are otherwise operated.
DAY 4
Vatnajökull National Park
After an early breakfast we drive to Vatnajökull National Park. Vatnajökull glacier is the biggest glacier in Europe with countless natural wonders to see.
 
We will travel the glaciers inside out, going on a glacier hike and an ice cave expedition. We will also visit sites around the glaciers, glacier lagoons, the beautiful black sand diamond beach and other secret locations in the area.  
 
We will stay in a local high quality farm hotel only minutes away from Jökulárslón with amazing ocean and glacier view.

DAY 5-6-7
East fjords - North Iceland
Passing over from the East to the North we will cross various mountain ranges and highland passages with phenomenal viewpoints.
 
Möðrudalur á fjöllum farm will be visited along with the mighty waterfall Dettifoss. Selfoss will also be visited if weather conditions are good.
 
We will spend the next 3 nights in hotel/huts by lake Mývatn. The area around Mývatn has nature and colourful birdlife like no other, a volcano wonderland with craters in every direction, expectional lava formation from past eruptions and colourful geothermal hotspots for viewing and even bathing.
 
Mývatn is a part of the mid Atlantic ridge, an highly active volcanic area with the caldera Krafla last erupting in 1984. We will visit Krafla and Víti or hell, as other natural wonders like Námaskarð, Dimmuborgir, Skútústaðir and the waterfall Aldeyjarfoss if weather permits.
 
Jarðböðin or the natural baths are a must after a good day of adventures.
 
If the northern lights decide to become visible, Mývatn is without a doubt one of the best places on the island to witness them.
DAY 8
West coast - Vatnsnes Peninsula
Its going to be a little bit difficult leaving this unique part of the island but more adventures await us.
 
Goðafoss waterfall or the waterfall of the Gods will be our first stop.
 
We will visit Akureyri, the capital of the north, for a nice lunch then get ready for Vatnsnes Peninsula which is the land of seals and the home of the trolls.
 
If the forecast looks promising Hvitserkur will be visited around sunset.

DAY 9
Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Walking up in the land of seals is very peaceful and a short stroll down to the seal colonies is highly recommended.
 
After enjoying the great outdoors in the land of seals we aim for Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the monumental mountain Kirkjufell.
 
We will spend the night in Stykkilshólmur, an old and well preserved fishing village. During this part of our journey together we have to look out for the majestic Icelandic sea eagle, a rear see but definitely one of the highlights if spotted.

DAY 10
Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Reykjavik.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula has alot to offer and while circling Snæfellsjökull glacier we will drive through occasional fishing villages and visiting sites like Djúpalónssandur, Arnarstapi along with other secret location.
 
Leaving the Peninsula we will drive back to Reykjavík Capital where we will enjoy our last high quality local dinner together. (included in  price).

Included in tour:
  • Pickup/drop-off: 8:00-8:30. at hotel or a designated pickup place. 
  • Double occupancy accommodation for 9 nights at hotels/guesthouses with breakfast during the tour.
  • Transportation with spacious and modified 4×4 vehicles.
  • English guidance by a native guide and photographer.
  • Glacier hike and Ice cave expedition/zodiac tour and safety gear such as crampons for your boots, harness, helmets and axes if needed.

Note: For a single room there is a supplement extra, as single rooms are more expensive.
         Bring with you warm and waterproof clothes and sturdy shoes ready for winds and occasional showers.
